Liquor Shops: Berhampur liquor shops to remain shut till June 6 | Bhubaneswar News



Berhampur: All liquor shops here will remain shut from 9 pm Thursday till June 6. Police patrolling will be intensified in the city during this period.
The step has been taken to prevent post-poll violence before and after declaration of results, said SP (Berhampur) Sarthak Sarangi. The counting of votes is scheduled on June 4. The Election Commission of India has declared it a dry day.Police want to declare dry days some more days ahead of the counting and said they would discuss it with the district collector.
Police took the step two days after a 40-year-old history-sheeter, faced 13 criminal cases was hacked to death by the miscreant at a tattoo parlour here. Earlier, SP (Ganjam) Jagmohan Meena asked tea stalls and dhabas to close by 8.30 pm till June 4 to prevent violence. tnn
