Lightning Strikes: 6 persons die in lightning strikes in state | Bhubaneswar News


Bhubaneswar: Six persons died and five sustained critical burn injuries in lightning strikes at different places in the state on Wednesday. The victims include two each from Balasore and Bhadrak districts and one each from Kendrapara and Dhenkanal, said a govt release. Chief minister Mohan Majhi announced Rs 4 lakh ex-gratia for next of kin of each deceased.
A farmer, Rakesh Tihadi, died in lighting strike at a village under Khaira police limits in Balasore district.An unidentified youth died in Balasore district’s Nilagiri area. The lightning strike claimed farmers Gauri Das at Bhaga Ram village in Bhadrak district and Bhimsen Parida near Kamakhyanagar in Dhenkanal district. Details of other deaths and injuries were yet to come in till filing of this report.
