Leopard Skin Trading: Man sentenced to 3 years for leopard skin trading | Bhubaneswar News


Sambalpur: Sub-divisional judicial magistrate, Kuchinda, in Sambalpur district convicted a man for trading in leopard skin and sentenced him to three years rigorous imprisonment on Monday.
The accused was arrested by STF, Bhubaneswar, on Feb 15 this year while he was waiting for customer along with another person, to deliver two leopard skins on Kuchinda-Bonaigarh road.The accused, Sankirtan Munda (45), belongs to Pahadamara village in Deogarh district.
He was convicted under various sections of WildLife Act, 1972. The seized leopard skins were sent to Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun, for biological and chemical examination to ascertain the leopard’s gender, age and habitat. TNN
