Lens on illegal migrants in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Bharat Raksha Manch (BRM) on Thursday raised alarm over alleged presence of illegal migrants from Bangladesh and Rohingya infiltrators in Odisha, estimating their numbers to be more than 3,00,000.
Addressing the media, BRM Odisha president Subrat Mishra warned of demographic changes similar to those seen in northeastern states. “These immigrants have integrated into various sectors, from labour work to small businesses, spreading across urban and rural areas,” Mishra said.
“The state govt must strengthen its vigilance mechanism to prevent further unauthorized entry and settlement,” Mishra added, calling for immediate identification and deportation of illegal immigrants.
