Leaders pay tribute to Debendra Pradhan at memorial service | Bhubaneswar News



Bhubaneswar: Senior political leaders gathered on Thursday to pay their respects to former Union minister Debendra Pradhan at a memorial service held at his home in Angul district. Prominent figures, including chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi, defence minister Rajnath Singh and agriculture minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, were present.
“I paid my respects to late Dr Debendra Pradhan, the revered father of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, on his Ekadasaha at Talcher. I spoke to the bereaved family and expressed my condolences,” posted the CM on X after attending the service.
Defence minister Rajnath Singh remembered Pradhan as a learned and humble individual who was known for his simplicity and warmth. “We worked together in Atalji’s govt, and our discussions will always remain memorable,” Singh said, adding that Pradhan envisioned a developed Odisha and a strong India.
Union agriculture minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan highlighted Pradhan’s dedication to national service and social uplift. “Dr Pradhan’s progressive vision, policies, and commitment to public service continue to inspire us all,” Chouhan remarked, noting that his son Dharmendra Pradhan carries forward his father’s legacy of public service.
Pradhan was particularly recognised for his contributions to the welfare of poor and neglected sections of the society. The political leaders joined in prayers for the departed soul’s peace and extended their support to the bereaved family.
Pradhan, who died at the age of 84, was the father of Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan. He was a member of the 12th and 13th Lok Sabha from Deogarh.
