In an initiation to Patna University (PU) registrar and college principal, the BCI said, “After consideration, extension of approval of affiliation has been granted to Patna Law College for imparting three-year LLB course with intake of two sections of 60 students each for a period of one academic year 2024-25.” The institution would be required to seek extension of approval of affiliation by the BCI again after a year, the letter said.

A five-member BCI team, headed by Patna high court Justice (retired) Mridula Mishra, Bihar State Bar Council chairman Rama Kant Sharma, senior advocate Sadhu Sharan Yadav, member S D Sharan and Prof Padma Singh of National Law Institute University, Bhopal, had inspected the institution on June 12. A decision to renew the extension was taken at a meeting of the standing committee of the legal education committee of the BCI, held on June 16.
Patna Law College principal Vani Bhushan told the newspaper that the college has requested the PU authorities to expedite the process of admission to the LLB course. The university has already started the process of admission to its other courses in the current academic session, he said.
