PATNA: A day after Tejashwi Yadav announced the arrival of his second child, RJD supremo Lalu Prasad on Wednesday revealed the name of his new grandson, Iraj Lalu Yadav.Lalu Prasad announed this via post on X,“So our granddaughter Katyayani’s little brother is named ‘Iraj’ by me and Rabri Devi. Tejashwi & Rajshree have given him the full name ‘Iraj Lalu Yadav’,” Lalu posted on X. “Katyayani was born on Katyayani Ashtami during Navratri, and this little bundle of joy is born on Bajrang Bali Hanuman ji’s Mangal day — hence, we named him Iraj.”The newborn, delivered at a hospital in Kolkata on Tuesday, is the second child of Bihar’s Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav and his wife Rajshree. The couple already has a daughter, Katyayani.

In his Tuesday morning post, Tejashwi had shared the news with a touch of devotion: “The wait is finally over! So grateful, blessed and pleased to announce the arrival of our little boy. Jai Hanuman!”The birth comes at a turbulent time for the Yadav household, which is still reeling from the dramatic fallout between Lalu Prasad and his elder son Tej Pratap Yadav, who was recently expelled from the party and publicly disowned by his father over a contentious post. Yet, Tej Pratap was among the first to extend his wishes, posting: “Shri Banke Bihari ji ki asim kripa… chote bhai Tejashwi aur Rajshree Yadav ko hardik badhai evam shubhkamnayein.”
Mamata visits newborn, calls him a symbol of good fortune
West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, who has often referred to herself as a “local guardian” for the Yadav couple in Kolkata, visited the Park Street hospital to bless the baby. “Since the parents are so beautiful, the baby has to be adorable,” she quipped, standing beside Tejashwi. “Chunav bhi hai aur ye bacha shubhkamna lekar aaya hai.”She added, “It was a pleasure to meet them today… Seeing both mother and child in good health brought immense happiness.” Tejashwi, in turn, confirmed that Rajshree had been in Kolkata throughout her pregnancy and that the family was delighted by the CM’s visit.Political leaders across the spectrum, including Bihar CM Nitish Kumar, extended their wishes. “Shri Tejashwi Yadav ji ko putra ke janm par hardik badhai evam shubhkamnayein,” Nitish posted.
