Hyderabad: Farmers of Lagacharla, who were on a warpath against the Congress govt’s proposed pharma cluster in their village, are starting to come around to the state’s decision following the revised plan for a multi-purpose industrial park. Nearly 60 farmers from three villages—Lagacharla, Hakimpet, and Polepally in Dudyal mandal of Vikarabad district—have agreed to part with their land for the project.
Recent efforts by officials have yielded positive results. Last week, compensation cheques were distributed to 38 farmers of Polepally after they consented to the land acquisition.
“The entire 71 acres of assigned land in Polepally has been acquired, while 90% of farmers in Hakimpet and about 50% in Lagacharla have also agreed to the acquisition. So far, approximately 530 acres of land has been taken over in these three villages,” a senior official from Vikarabad district told TOI.
