Lab Technician Arrested for Sexual Assault on Nurse in Chennai | Chennai News – The Times of India

CHENNAI: A 40-year-old lab technician was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a 23-year-old nurse in her room near a private hospital in Kilpauk on Wednesday night.
The incident occurred when the victim, taking a break after her shift, answered a knock at the door, assuming it was one of her colleagues.
According to the police, Bruce Lee from Mugalivakkam, Porur forcibly entered the room, covered the nurse’s mouth, and assaulted her. Her screams alerted the neighbours, who rushed in and caught the suspect before handing him over to the Kilpauk All Women’s Police Station.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Bruce Lee, a married man with two children, was formerly employed as a lab technician at a hospital in Kodambakkam, where the nurse also worked.
The two reportedly had a close relationship during that time at the same hospital. After learning about Bruce Lee’s marriage and children, the nurse severed ties and moved to a different hospital in Kilpauk.
Police reported that Bruce Lee discovered her new workplace and accommodation and allegedly targeted her room while she was alone. It is believed that Bruce Lee intended to confront the woman but instead encountered another nurse, while his ex-girlfriend was not there, and committed the assault.
Bruce Lee was booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, including provisions under the Prevention of Violence Against Women Act. He was produced before a magistrate and was remanded in judicial custody. Investigations are ongoing.
