Koraput: Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) has approved establishment of a Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV) in Jeypore. It will be the third KV in Koraput district after the ones in Koraput and Sunabeda. The new school will start operating from 2025-26 academic session. Initially, it will have classes I to V with a single section in each. According to an official order issued by KVS on Thursday, the decision follows transfer of land by the sponsoring authority to the sangathan and identification of a suitable temporary accommodation for the school. The admission process will be completed within 30 days from the date of issue of the order.The school will operate from Anwesha building near the Government High School on NKT Road that has been renovated by the Koraput district administration. But it will be a temporary campus. As per KVS norms, eight acres of land near Jayanagar has been transferred for construction of the permanent school campus.Collector (Koraput) Keerthi Vasan V said the admission process for the upcoming academic session will start soon and will be conducted offline. The decision to establish the KV in Jeypore follows the approval by the cabinet committee on economic affairs on Dec 6, 2024, under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The move fulfilled a long-pending demand of the region and forms part of a larger initiative to set up 85 new KVs across the country, including eight in Odisha, under the civil sector.
