‘Kunal Karma should apologize’: Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis over remarks on Eknath Shinde | Mumbai News – The Times of India

MUMBAI: Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday has criticised stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra‘s remarks, asserting that while freedom of comedy exists, it cannot be unbridled.
Fadnavis’ first response following the attack by Shiv Sainiks at a venue in Khar, where Kamra had allegedly made controversial remarks about DCM Eknath Shinde. The chief minister asserted that Kamra should apologise and would face legal action.
“People have the right to do stand-up comedy, but this does not mean they can do anything they want. Kamra has used low-level comedy and insulted our DCM, who was earlier the CM. We condemn this, and he should apologise. This will not be tolerated, and he will face action as per the law,” Fadnavis said.
Speaking outside the state assembly, Fadnavis also addressed Kamra’s alleged comments, in which he indirectly suggested that Shinde was a traitor.
“In the 2024 polls, the public has decided who is the traitor. It has decided that Eknath Shinde is the inheritor of Balasaheb Thackeray’s legacy,” Fadnavis further added.
He further commented on Kamra displaying the Constitution, stating that while it grants individual freedom, it must not come at the cost of infringing upon the rights of others.
