Kokapet fire: 6 victims stable | Hyderabad News

Hyderabad: Six people, who suffered injuries in a fire accident at an upcoming restaurant at GAR IT Park in Kokapet on Saturday, are now in a stable condition, doctors said on Sunday. A doctor from Continental Hospital, Nanakramguda, where all the six were undergoing treatment, told TOI: “All the patients are stable and undergoing treatment. Debridement (the process of removing damaged/infected tissues from a wound) was conducted today. Multiple consultants from different specialities are also assisting in taking care of the patients.”
The accident occurred around 5pm on Saturday in block number six of the complex. Police said the mishap was caused by a gas leak during the installation of a pipeline.
Among the six injured was the hotel owner. Three persons from West Bengal were employees of the restaurant, while the other two were workers from Andhra Pradesh. Of them, Shiva Durga Prasad sustained around 50% flash burns, while the rest suffered from 20-25% burns. All were rushed to a nearby private hospital for treatment.
About the restaurant not obtaining a trade licence so far, a Narsingi municipality official told TOI, “It is usually provided in three days, so it is possible that they might have applied before starting the business. We have ensured that the currently operating eateries in GAR Towers have obtained trade licences. The officials keep a check on whether a licence has been taken after an establishment opens.”
Meanwhile, an official from the fire services department, Rangareddy, said, “We did not receive any intimation as it was not a fire accident. But in the coming few days, we will be investigating whether fire safety measures were taken or not.” The hotel, which has not yet been opened to the public, is spread across 2,000 square feet. The glass walls, furniture, and equipment in the kitchen suffered damage.
