In the 2019 general elections, Dr. Mohammad Jawed of the Indian National Congress emerged victorious with 366,820 votes, constituting 33.3% of the votes. The runner-up was Syed Mahmood Ashraf of the Janata Dal (United), securing 332,325 votes, accounting for 30.2% of the votes.
In the 2014 general elections, Mohammad Asrarul Haque, of the Indian National Congress, secured victory with 493,294 votes, capturing 54.1% of the votes. Dr. Dilip Kumar Jaiswal of the Bharatiya Janata Party was the runner-up with 298,762 votes, securing 32.8% of the votes.
