Mumbai: BJP leader Kirit Somaiya has lodged a complaint with the Mumbai police commissioner regarding Congress MLC Bhai Jagtap’s controversial and derogatory remarks about the Election Commission of India (ECI).
Somaiya said such remarks demonstrate Congress’s growing frustration and their attempts to discredit the electoral body. He urged appropriate legal action against Jagtap for his disrespectful comments towards a constitutional authority.
The opposition’s concerns about voter counts and EVMs have intensified following their defeat in the state assembly elections. The parties have consistently questioned the integrity of the electoral process, despite the ECI’s assurances about the system’s reliability.— Vijay V Singh
