Khallikote Varsity: Khallikote varsity to appoint 69 guest teachers | Bhubaneswar News



Berhampur: Khallikote Unitary University, which has only 18 regular teaching faculty members, has decided to appoint 69 guest teachers in 18 departments this year after conducting interviews expected to last over a month. Among them are posts of a professor, six associate professors and 62 assistant professors, sources said.
The number of regular teachers will reduce from 18 to 15 by the August end due to the retirement and transfers.Over 50 guest teachers appointed last year were disengaged since April after their term of engagement ended. “To tide over this crisis, we have decided to appoint the guest faculties this year as well. The interviews were conducted from May 15 to June 19 to select the guest faculties,” said Geetanjali Dash, vice chancellor of Berhampur University, who is also in-charge VC of Khallikote Unitary University.
Shanti Sudha Patra, registrar of the university, said the appointment letters of all the selected guest faculty members were already dispatched. They were asked to join before July 1, as the university reopened on June 18 after summer vacations.
The university authorities have increased the honorarium of the guest teachers, as per govt guidelines. A teacher with a PhD will get Rs 1,000 per class with a maximum of Rs 60,000 per month and a non-PhD teacher will get Rs 750 per class, with a maximum of Rs 45,000 per month. Earlier, the guest teachers were paid Rs 500 per class, sources said.
