KGBVs to be equipped with digital learning boards and open gyms, says DM | Patna News – Times of India


Patna: District magistrate (DM) Chandrashekhar Singh on Monday said that all Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBVs) in the district would soon be equipped with digital learning boards and open gymnasiums. He asked the officials concerned to work expeditiously in this direction to ensure that the project was completed on time.
The DM, while holding an education review meeting, also gave several other instructions to the officials.“Apart from digital learning boards, these schools will also be provided with high quality desks and benches as well as open gymnasium,” said Singh, adding, District Mineral Foundation fund will be used for this purpose.
The DM instructed the district education officer (DEO) Sanjay Kumar to conduct gap analysis of KGBV on the basis of regular inspections and feedback obtained from girl students so that the required resources could be made available at the places.
In another direction, Singh asked the DEO to ensure 100% distribution of Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) kits (for class 1 to 5) and Learning Enhancement Programme (LEP) kits (for class 6 to 8) within two days. He also asked the officials to take feedback from students and parents in the matter. “It was found that only 52% of the 80% FLN kits and only 75% of the 60% LEP kits obtained by the schools have been distributed among students,” he said, directing the officials to ensure 100% distribution of these kits within three days.
Singh directed the officials to make efforts to provide necessary equipment, including computers and other latest education materials by way of corporate social responsibility and other means as well.
While talking about infrastructure facility in various schools of the district, the DM said that construction and repairing of toilets, electricity connection and drinking water should be made available at all the schools by August 15. He also directed to speed up the construction of extra classes wherever needed.
The DM was told that training of 8,808 primary teachers of Class 1 to 5 in the district was completed by the State Council of Educational Research and Training, and another 480 would be trained between July 15 and 20. “Training of 369 headmasters of secondary and higher secondary schools and 180 science teachers of Classes 9 and 10 has also been completed,” said the education department officials.
The DM also directed the officials to ensure timely payment of honorariums to all the 9,623 cook-cum- assistants in the district. “Children should be given nutritious food in mid-day meals and the set standards for the purpose should be strictly followed,” said Singh.
