Keonjhar Cop: Keonjhar cop transferred to Gajapati after allegedly misbehaving with CM Mohan Majhi | Bhubaneswar News

Keonjhar cop who ‘misbehaved’ with Majhi ‘shunted’ to Gajapati

Bhubaneswar: An inspector of Keonjhar police station, who had allegedly misbehaved with chief minister Mohan Majhi in May when he was an opposition MLA, was on Friday transferred to Gajapati district.
Though the order issued by the state police headquarters does not mention the reason for Trinath Sethy’s sudden transfer, sources said the action seemed imminent when BJP formed its maiden govt on June 12.
Unlike routine transfer orders that contain names of police personnel in bulk, the one issued on Friday featured only two names — Sethy and his replacement.
Trinath Sethy is transferred from Keonjhar to Gajapati. Amit Kumar Bhuyan has been posted in Keonjhar from Bhadrak keeping in view the vacancy position, administrative requirements and interest of public service, the order read.
In the run-up to elections, Majhi, who was Keonjhar MLA, staged a demonstration along with some villagers in protest against the alleged misconduct by Sethy at the police station on May 2. A video of the argument between Majhi and the police officer went viral on social media.
In an interview to a news channel after taking over as chief minister, Majhi recently said, “Policing system failed in the state in the last 24 years. When an MLA like me could be misbehaved at a police station, what about common men?”
