Kendu Leaf: BJD MP Sasmit Patra Urges Withdrawal of 18% GST on Kendu Leaf | Bhubaneswar News


Bhubaneswar: BJD MP Sasmit Patra called for withdrawal of 18% GST on kendu leaf in a special mention in Rajya Sabha on Monday. He said kendu leaf is the financial backbone of around 10 lakh pluckers, binders and seasonal workers in Odisha, primarily tribal women.
These tribal communities collect the leaves as part of their rights under the Scheduled Tribes and Other Traditional Forest Dwellers (Recognition of Forest Rights) Act, 2006, which grants them the right to procure and sell these products.
