KCR urges BRS cadre to continue fight on people’s issues, slams Cong governance

Hyderabad: BRS president and former chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has urged party leaders to intensify their efforts in addressing people’s issues, especially those of farmers, claiming that all major sectors in Telangana have suffered over the past 15 months under Congress rule.
“For other political parties, Telangana is just a political game. But for the BRS, it is a mission,” KCR said, addressing party workers from the erstwhile Mahbubnagar and Khammam districts at Erravelli farm house on Saturday.
He claimed that during the 10-year tenure of BRS, the state witnessed ‘all-round development.’ In contrast, he said, agriculture, power supply, irrigation, drinking water, infrastructure, and other key sectors have been deteriorating, leading to growing public resentment against the Congress govt.
‘Lesson for the govt’
For the first time, KCR also responded to the University of Hyderabad land controversy. He praised the students’ protest against the proposed auctioning of 400 acres of university land at Kancha Gachibowli, calling their resistance a continuation of the spirit of the 1969 Telangana movement, which led to the university’s establishment.
He criticised the state govt’s stance, stating it was forced to withdraw due to peaceful protests and judicial intervention. “The UoH issue was a lesson. If the state govt tries to use force and power, civil society and the courts will not remain silent,” he warned.
KCR also instructed party leaders to kickstart the party’s membership drive immediately after the public meeting in Warangal on April 27.
