Kavitha drops letter bomb on dad, pans BRS chief’s Warangal speech | Hyderabad News

Hyderabad: In a first in the 25-year history of BRS, party MLC K Kavitha has expressed reservations about the speech of party supremo K Chandrasekhar Rao at the pink party’s recent silver jubilee public meeting at Elkathurthy in Hanumakonda district. In a letter, that went public on Thursday, Kavitha provided ‘feedback’ to her father, stating “people expected some more punch in your speech. But the cadre and leaders are happy”.BRS held the public meeting on April 27, but she reportedly wrote the letter on May 5. The purported letter came to light on Thursday on the eve of Kavitha’s return to Hyderabad from the US. She was in the US for the past 10 days to attend her son’s graduation ceremony.Kavitha noted that some key issues were missing from the BRS president’s speech and lacked clarity. She said KCR should have targeted BJP, talked about the Waqf Amendment Act and 42% reservation for BCs, and emphasised on his “inaccessibility to his own party leaders”. She also pointed out his speeches were usually peppered with Urdu words and phrases, but were surprisingly missing this time. The six-page handwritten letter, in a mix of Telugu and English, addressed to ‘Daddy’, listed 20 points, ‘eight positive and 11 negative’.“You spoke about BJP for just two minutes. This has led to speculations that BRS will align with BJP in the future. Even I personally felt that you should have targeted BJP. Maybe because I suffered. Our party cadre and leaders are of the opinion that Congress has lost credibility at the grassroots, and some people think BJP will emerge as an alternative in the state,” Kavitha said.“Another reason for the speculation is that BRS did not contest the MLC election, mainly to help BJP. To address the prevailing political scenario, everyone expected you would provide a special programme or guidelines. At least now, we can hold party plenary for one or two days to mainly hear the opinions from the party cadre and give them direction,” she said. The BRS leader made a mention of reported complaints from former ZP chairpersons, ZPTCs, and MLAs that they could not get an appointment with KCR, citing “selective access” to their leader. She advised her father to “kindly reach out to everyone”.Regarding leadership and responsibilities, Kavitha said for such a huge meeting, some old hands were given in charge roles, and those who participated in the Telangana movement were ignored. On the positives of the meeting, Kavitha said the big-ticket event boosted the morale of the party cadre, and they stayed till the end listening to the KCR’s speech with rapt attention. “Many people liked your mention of Operation Kagaar (sic) and also ‘Congress Fail Fail’ and (homage to) the Pahalgam victims,” she added.“Many people appreciated criticising CM A Revanth Reddy without taking his name, even though he is attacking and criticising you. People think it is your stature,” the MLC said. Once again, it was proved that BRS means Telangana, and Telangana means BRS. She mentioned that he should have spoken about changing the Telangana Thalli statue in the speech.“Overall, the participants and people expected some more ‘punch’ in your speech. But the cadre and leaders are happy,” she said, concluding the letter.Party leaders said this was the first time a leader has expressed her opinion openly in the form of a letter in the 25-history of the party. However, there was no official reaction from KCR’s office.
