Karnataka opposition calls for resignations of chief minister, deputy CM | Bengaluru News

Bengaluru: The political fallout from the stampede continued to intensify, with the opposition squarely blaming chief minister Siddaramaiah and his deputy DK Shivakumar for the tragedy.BJP state president BY Vijayendra demanded an inquiry by a sitting HC judge and called for the resignation of Siddaramaiah, Shivakumar and home minister G Parameshwara. He also sought a compensation of Rs 50 lakh for each victim’s family. “The Karnataka govt gave Rs 25 lakh for a death in Kerala caused by an elephant from Karnataka. Why not Rs 50 lakh for the stampede victims in Bengaluru?” he asked.In Delhi, BJP MP and national spokesperson Sambit Patra blamed the “mutual fight and rift” between Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar for the “govt-manufactured stampede.” Union minister HD Kumaraswamy called the govt “arrogant fools”. He said, “After his show at Vidhana Soudha, the DCM reached the stadium even though he was aware that people had died outside… In the midst of deaths, he used RCB’s win for his self-glorification.”
