Mumbai: The city Crime Branch cracked the brutal murder of 41-year-old Rajesh Sarawan and arrested three persons, including his cousin, who gave the contract to kill him over personal enmity. Sarawan’s body was found on Jan 19, floating in a puddle near service road by the Metro carshed in Kanjurmarg. The body showed signs of a fatal head injury inflicted with a heavy object.
Police registered a murder case (GR No. 23/25) under Section 103 (1) of the BNS.
The Mumbai Crime Branch initiated a parallel probe alongside the local police. Unit 7, 8, and 11, led by inspector Laxmikant Salunke and Atmaji Sawant and his team, detained two suspects, Rohit Rajesh Chandalia and Sagar Rajesh Piwal. The arrested individuals were questioned extensively, leading to their confession and uncovering their involvement in Sarawan’s murder. — Ahmed Ali
