Job Fairs: Government to Fill 35,000 Vacant Posts through Mega Job Fairs | Bhubaneswar News


Bhubaneswar: Govt has announced the launch of mega job fairs across the state, with the target to fill up at least 35,000 vacant posts in the first phase.
Official sources said the govt will issue a notification to fill up vacant posts in various departments while there is a plan to hand over around 22,000 appointment letters by next month. This initiative is a part of the govt’s broader strategy to address the growing unemployment concerns.
At present, there are around 1,32,459 posts lying vacant in different departments against the sanctioned strength of 3,99,666.
The decision to conduct the recruitment drive was taken by a high-level committee headed by chief minister Mohan Majhi. The committee has given approval to filling up more than 92,203 posts and directed various departments to start the recruitment process, including examination and interviews, to fill up 78,919 posts. All departments have been asked to pursue with recruitment agencies to ensure targets of Nijukti Melas (job fairs) are met.
The state govt has assured that the recruitment process will be transparent and merit-based, with special provisions for socially and economically disadvantaged communities. The first phase of recruitment is expected to commence in early Sept, with the state govt closely coordinating with the departments to expedite the process.
BJP’s election manifesto had said, “We will ensure recruitment to 1.5 lakh vacant govt posts in a fair and transparent manner. Recruitment for 65,000 posts will be completed in two years. We will fill vacancies for other backward classes (OBC) and economically weaker sections (EWS) on the priority basis.”
Deputy chief minister Pravati Parida said, “Odisha govt is committed to fulfil all the promises BJP had made in its election manifesto. Steps are being taken to fulfil all the promises made in our manifesto.”
