Jharsuguda records 39C as mercury heads north | Bhubaneswar News

Bhubaneswar: Jharsuguda sizzled at the highest of 39 degrees Celsius on Tuesday, as several parts of the state witnessed an upward trend in day temperatures. Eight other places reported temperatures ranging between 37 and 38 degrees.
Boudh (38.5C) and Malkangiri (38.4C) recorded the second and third highest temperatures, respectively. The capital city registered a maximum of 36.4C. Phulbani recorded the lowest day temperature of 15.5C.
Manorama Mohanty, scientist and head of the regional IMD centre here, said the rise in day temperatures is typical during the winter-to-summer transition period. “Some places recorded temperatures above normal, with two towns experiencing temperatures more than 4 degrees above the usual range,” she said.
IMD forecasted that both day and night temperatures will remain largely unchanged across the state for the next four to five days. However, night temperatures may see a slight decline in the coming days.
