Jeypore Airport: Jeypore airport upgrade to 3C status | Bhubaneswar News
Koraput: Airports Authority of India (AAI) has conducted a feasibility survey to upgrade Jeypore airport from 2-C status to 3-C, which would allow it to accommodate 72-seater aircraft and function round-the-clock.
“A feasibility survey was conducted by the authorities concerned for the expansion of the airport. Their response was positive. The report will be submitted to the transport department and required steps will be taken,” said Koraput collector Keerthi Vasan V.Officials said the survey revealed the need to acquire around 250 to 300 acres of land to extend the current runway from 1,200-1,500 m, along with additional security measures.
“A detailed report will be submitted and once funds are allocated, the land acquisition process will begin,” said Khiradhar Kandhapani, superintending engineer, public works department, Jeypore. The first flight from Bhubaneswar to Jeypore took off on Oct 31, 2022.
