Keonjhar: A jewellery trader was attacked and robbed of gold and silver ornaments worth around Rs 5 lakh by five unidentified miscreants in Town police station limits Sunday night.
The trader, Deepak Sahu, was returning home to Naranpur on his motorcycle after closing his shop when he was targeted. “Five miscreants on two motorcycles started chasing me. While trying to escape through an alternate route, I lost control and fell from my bike. They punched me and attacked me with their fists, causing injuries to my head and hands. They then grabbed my bag containing the ornaments and fled the scene,” Sahu said.
Following a complaint lodged on Monday morning, Town police have started an investigation. “We are examining CCTV footage from a nearby guest house and conducting raids at various locations. The culprits will be caught soon,” said Srikanta Sahu, inspector in-charge of Town police station.
