Jewellery heist in Purnia: 2 detained | Patna News – Times of India
Patna: The robbery of jewellery worth Rs 2 crore from a showroom at Dak Bungalow Chowk in Purnia town appears to be linked to an interstate gang from West Bengal. Two suspects were detained for interrogation on Saturday. STF ADG Amrit Raj visited the showroom in Purnia to investigate the case.
Purnia SP Upendra Nath Verma said 10 teams, including five from Purnia Police and five from Special Task Force (STF), have been formed for the investigation.“STF ADG Amrit Raj is leading the investigation. We have found some leads and identified several criminals and their escape routes. Local criminals are also being questioned,” Verma said.
A police source revealed that the police recovered burnt clothes near Sapni in the Mufassil police station area, which the criminals discarded after the crime.
Also, shoes and blood-stained slippers were found. The police have gathered several vital clues related to the case.
Police have also identified the route the criminals took to flee towards Bengal. After the robbery, the criminals fled via the route from Panchmukhi Temple through Rambagh, Sapni of Mufassil Police Station, Kadba Dangi, and then reached Sanauli of Katihar. From there, they escaped towards Malda in West Bengal via Hasan Ganj and Manihari.
