JD(U) Protests Against Lalu Prasad’s Misogynistic Remarks in Patna | Patna News – Times of India

Patna: Women netas from JD(U) took out a protest march in the state capital on Wednesday, a day after RJD chief Lalu Prasad made derogatory remarks about CM Nitish Kumar’s yatra aimed at interacting with women. Describing Lalu’s remark as an insult to women, the protesters asked the RJD chief to tender an apology.
Carrying placards, the protesters raised slogans like “Lalu Yadav mafi mango” and “Lalu Yadav hosh me aao.” The march, which began from the JD(U) office, reached the Income Tax roundabout, drawing the attention of passers by.
Joining the party’s protest march, JD(U) spokesperson Anjum Ara said it doesn’t suit a seasoned politician like Lalu Prasad, who has seven daughters, to make such remarks against women. Stating the RJD chief has fallen victim to “linguistic bankruptcy,” she accused him of creating a different narrative against CM Nitish Kumar after the alliance break-up.
“Lalu’s comments towards Nitish Ji’s yatra are very shameful. In the past, RJD leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav also joined his yatra while they were together in power, but after the alliance’s break-up, the RJD is mocking the campaign,” Anjum said. It’s strange that the RJD notices “good governance” and “growing Bihar” under Nitish, but once out of power, the opposition changes its narrative, she alleged.
Another JD(U) leader, Bharti Mehta, asked Lalu to apologise for his “offensive comments,” describing his statements as highly condemnable.
Meanwhile, the RJD came out with a clarification. Denying that the RJD chief uttered anything wrong, state RJD spokesperson Shakti Singh Yadav said what Lalu meant was “getting attracted”. “Nitish Ji could get attracted towards the beauty of nature during his tour of the countryside, and it will be good for him. What’s wrong with this statement?” asked Yadav, adding that Nitish’s move to go among the masses is aimed at proving his relevance. He alleged that currently, the CM was “hijacked by the people having nothing to do with socialism.”
