Patna: At its national executive meeting held in New Delhi on Saturday, the JD(U) appointed Sanjay Jha as the working president of the party and pushed for grant of special category status or special package to Bihar.
The meeting, chaired by party president Nitish Kumar, underscored that despite limited resources, Bihar has established a new standard of “development and prosperity.” “However, the state now requires either special category status or a special package to accelerate development works so that a new chapter of development can be scripted,” stated a political resolution passed at the meeting.
“Another critical issue discussed at the meeting was that the next assembly elections in Bihar, due in 2025, would be fought under the leadership of Nitish,” JD(U)’s chief spokesperson K C Tyagi told reporters after the meeting.
