Jaundice: 7 more jaundice cases increase infected count to 110 in Sambalpur | Bhubaneswar News



Sambalpur: In the past 24 hours, six jaundice cases have surfaced in Nayapada near Golbazar, a new area that has come under scourage of the disease. One case has been detected in Saliabagicha. The new cases have taken total number of infected individuals to 110.
The number of jaundice cases increased from 22 on June 19 to 110 on Friday. Health authorities attribute the outbreak to contaminated water flowing through leaky pipes that pass through drains and also consumption of fast food.
“While we’ve detected water contamination, ice cream and fast food were identified as sources of jaundice,” said Sujata Rani Mishra, chief district medical officer. Health minister Mukesh Mahaling said, “We have directed the Sambalpur district collector to repair the leaky water pipes through WATCO.”
