In 3rd phase, J P Ganga Pathextended up to Kangan Ghat

Patna: CM Nitish Kumar on Wednesday inaugurated the third phase of the JP Ganga Path, extending from Gai Ghat (12.1km) to Kangan Ghat (15.5km), by cutting the traditional ribbon at a function organized at Patna Ghat. He also inspected the newly built road from Gai Ghat to Kangan Ghat soon after the inauguration.
During the event, Pratyaya Amrit, the additional chief secretary of the road construction department, briefed the CM on the remaining works of the J P Ganga Path, commonly known as Patna Marine Drive.He said the state govt has planned to extend the four-lane marine drive to the Rajendra Bridge at Mokama via Bakhtiarpur in the east, and to the Koilwar-Chhapra bridge in Bhojpur district in the west. Amrit also updated the CM on the progress of the six-lane Kacchi Dargah-Bidupur road bridge over the Ganga river.
Speaking on the occasion, Nitish said the J P Ganga Path has now been completed up to Kangan Ghat and urged officials to expedite the remaining stretch up to Deedarganj. He specifically asked representatives of L&T, the executing agency, to finish the remaining work as quickly as possible.
The L&T representative assured the CM that the final 1.5km section of the J P Ganga Path from Kangan Ghat to Deedarganj would be completed by October 2024, and the Kacchi Dargah-Bidupur road bridge by the end of this year.
The first phase of the JP Ganga Path was opened to the public on June 24, 2022, and the second phase was inaugurated by CM Nitish Kumar on August 14, 2023. The project was approved in August 2007, with the groundbreaking ceremony held on October 11, 2013, by CM Nitish Kumar.
