Patna: The CPI(ML) legislature party on Saturday alleged that both the govt and assembly Speaker Nand Kishore Yadav seemed aligned in preventing discussions on several important issues during the monsoon session of the state legislature, which concluded on Friday.
CPI(ML) legislature party leader Mahboob Alam said, “We pressed for a discussion on the grant of special category status to the state, which would have been much better than the project-based Rs 59,000 crore package that the Centre has given to the state, but it was denied.The Centre has included Rs 26,000 crore in the package for the construction of three expressways, but these projects were pending from before.”
Alam said efforts to discuss the scheme for the payment of Rs 2 lakh each to one member from 95 lakh extremely poor families with a monthly income of less than Rs 72,000 were also denied. “The circle offices are refusing to give income certificates for Rs 72,000 per year. They are giving income certificates for Rs 1 lakh annual income,” Alam said. The CPI(ML) legislators also raised issues in the state assembly, such as demands for a 20-hour electricity supply for irrigation purposes, the grant of five decimal land to landless families and the inclusion of a 65% quota in the ninth schedule of the Constitution.
