IPS Officer: IPS officer faces EC heat for ‘lying’ about health | Bhubaneswar News

Bhubaneswar: The Election Commission on Saturday recommended action against IPS officer Ashish Singh claiming he misrepresented facts regarding his health.
The EC stricture came following a report from an AIIMS Bhubaneswar panel, which conducted his health check-up and found him mentally and physically fit. Singh has been on sick leave since May 4. AIIMS had been asked by the EC to form a six-member panel to check Singh’s health and file a report.
The EC has written to the state’s chief electoral officer (CEO) Nikunja Dhal.“It is directed that the report of special medical board, AIIMS, Bhubaneswar be forwarded to chief secretary for appropriate necessary action against the officer as deemed fit,” the letter read. The six-member AIIMS panel was headed by its director Ashutosh Biswas.
On April 2, the EC had directed the govt to shift Singh from the post of IG (central range) to a non-election related posting. He was then transferred as IG (chief minister’s security). Following a BJP complaint that Singh was still working in favour of BJD, the EC discovered he was on medical leave and asked him to undergo the check-up.
In the same letter, the EC recommended revocation of suspension of D S Kutey, who was serving as special secretary in the CMO.
