Intensify monitoring of govtschools: Edu dept to officials | Patna News – Times of India

Patna: Additional chief secretary of education department S Siddharth on Thursday asked the officials concerned to intensify monitoring of schools.
In a letter to all the district education officers, Siddharth said as many as 8,000 officers and staff of the department have already been monitoring all the govt schools, right from primary to higher secondary levels, as per prescribed norms with a view to creating a sound academic atmosphere and providing quality education to the children.“There should be more intensive monitoring of schools with a view to improving attendance of teachers and students, infrastructural facilities, curricular and extra-curricular activities,” he said.
He directed the deputy development commissioners of districts to hand over the responsibility of monitoring of schools to the district education officers, district programme officers and other staff and tag 10 to 15 schools with each of them for three months, he said.
He added the monitoring officials would be responsible for meeting the various shortcomings found during inspection. “The inspection reports should be uploaded to the e-portal developed by the department,” he said.
During monitoring of schools, the inspecting officials would also make an assessment of the availability of infrastructural facilities like classrooms, blackboards, bench-desks, kitchen, drinking water, toilets, playgrounds, computer, library and lab facilities.
“The education department will send a list of 10 randomly selected schools to the district education officer every week and the DEO will send it to the concerned deputy development commissioners for their effective monitoring,” Siddharth added.
