Mumbai: Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray on Tuesday said the INDIA bloc must stake claim to govt formation at the Centre. He said the bloc would meet in Delhi on Wednesday to decide on its PM candidate.
He said he had spoken to Mamata Banerjee of the TMC and she was on board. He said Nitish Kumar of the JD (U) and Chandrababu Naidu of the TDP had also been harassed by the BJP and might come round with the INDIA bloc.
Thackeray said he would talk to some of the other parties too to get them to be part of the INDIA bloc.
“The INDIA bloc must stake a claim to form the govt. I will be going to the INDIA bloc meeting in Delhi. Sanjay Raut, Anil Desai and Arvind Sawant will also go to Delhi. We will decide who the PM candidate will be from the INDIA bloc at the meeting. When we made the INDIA bloc, we didn’t make it to become PM. We came together to end dictatorship and save the Constitution. We will decide the PM candidate for the INDIA bloc,” he said.

Thackeray said the NDA was showing that it had the majority but results in some states were yet to come out. “We are in touch with the smaller parties. All the smaller parties who are tired of this dictatorship and harassment and independents will all come together with the INDIA bloc. They won’t let this dictatorial govt come to power. The Congress and others are speaking to Nitish Kumar and Chandrababu Naidu,” he said.
“Chandrababu Naidu has also been harassed, even Nitish was troubled by the BJP govt. So they will have to think if they want to get troubled again. I’m sure that this govt which is at the doorstep now will be pushed out by everyone who is tired of this authoritarian govt. We are not against any person, but against this authoritarian mentality,” he said.
He said the common people had shown their power with their vote.
