Patna: Independent MP from Purnia, Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav, on Thursday claimed he has received “death threats” 17 times over the past month. He alleged that some JD(U) leaders might be behind the conspiracy.
Speaking to reporters in Patna, Yadav said, “A few party officials were involved in the hospital scam that I will raise in Parliament. They want to restrict me from telling the truth while a few others want to eliminate me.” He accused JD(U) functionaries of targeting him for exposing corruption in the alleged hospital scam.
Meanwhile, Union minister of cooperation Krishna Pal Gurjar said the Centre would provide security to Yadav if requested. “He is a respected MP and if he requests security arrangements, the Centre will provide them to him,” Gurjar said in Jamui. He also criticised opposition leaders for blaming the Centre without evidence. “There seems to be a trend among opposition netas to blame the Centre for anything that happens.”
Reacting to Yadav’s allegations, JD(U) spokesperson Arvind Nishad said, “He claims he will say all these in Parliament. Let him speak first there before we reply.”
