Bhubaneswar: As many as 40 contingents will take part in the Independence Day parade at Mahatma Gandhi Marg. The decision was taken during a review meeting of the home and information and public relations departments conducted by chief minister Mohan Majhi here on Monday.
The CM has asked to allocate more funds for the celebrations. “Independence Day must be celebrated with pomp and gaiety across the state,” the CM said.Additional chief secretary of home department, Deo Ranjan Kumar Singh, information and public relation department’s secretary, Sanjay Singh, and special secretary of home department, Santosh Bala, and Cuttack-Bhubaneswar police commissioner Sanjib Panda were present in the meeting.
The Mahatma Gandhi Marg will be under high security and under CCTV surveillance for the grand event.
The CM will the hoist tricolour and address people at 9am on August 15.
