I-Day: 11 tableaux to displaysocial & devpt works of govt

Patna: Preparations for the Independence Day celebrations are in full swing at Gandhi Maidan. This year at the I-Day function, city residents will get the glimpses of 11 tableaux portraying various social initiatives and development works started by different departments of the state govt. While the main programme will be held on August 15, the final rehearsal for the event will be completed on August 13.
As per the information shared by the district administration, a three-member committee headed by deputy development commissioner, Tanai Sultania, has been formed to look after the preparations. The administration will also ensure anti-sabotage checking of all the tableaux before they are brought inside the Gandhi Maidan.
The 11 departments, participating in the tableau competition, have picked up their topics related to the work they have done or the areas in which they are working. For instance, the women development corporation under the state’s social welfare department will display a tableau depicting skill development training of women imparted by the department, leading to new employment opportunity. Prohibition, excise and registration department is working on the tableau depicting ‘how the dreams of youths are becoming true with de-addiction in Bihar’.
Upendra Maharathi Shilp Anusandhan Sansthan under the industries department will be showcasing the expansion of textile industry in the state, further leading to employment opportunity, and the law department will be presenting a tableau on its ‘Mobile Lok Adalat’. State’s art, culture and youth department will be informing the public about the Film Promotion Policy-2024, which has been recently given the nod by the state cabinet.
Agriculture directorate will talk about the benefits of growing maize, and how it is making the life of farmers happier, while the animal husbandry department will showcase the prosperity of farmers through cattle rearing.
The much talked about ‘Didi Ki Rasoi’ being run by Jeevika Didis will also be showcased through a tableau at the I-Day programme. Apart from these, a tableau on green and clean panchayat by the Panchayati Raj department and another on the expansion of quality education by the state education project council will also be on display.

Kind strangers offer final resting sites for departed
Families in Wayanad sought burial sites beyond the landslide-hit zones on Wednesday. Meppadi, located 15km away, facilitated over 30 burials in two days, with 200 gravediggers preparing additional graves. Local mosques and temples organized funerals and provided food and support to the affected families, as residents from various regions volunteered for relief efforts.
