Important to send a message to the world, says 2 Odisha MPs in anti-terror outreach teams | Bhubaneswar News

Bhubaneswar: Two parliamentarians from Odisha — Baijayant Panda (BJP) and Sasmit Patra (BJD) — were selected to be part of seven delegations formed by the Centre to apprise the global community of India’s stance against terrorism in the wake of Operation Sindoor. Baijayant, who represents Kendrapada Lok Sabha constituency, will lead one of the teams, while Rajya Sabha member Sasmit will join the team headed by Shiv Sena MP Shrikant Shinde.Speaking to the media in Mumbai, Baijayant emphasised the importance of taking India’s views to the world. “The delegations will be going out to various countries, not just to interact with the govts, but also with the media, with academia, opinion makers. It is important to send the message out,” Baijayant said.Stating that Operation Sindoor has taught Pakistan Army about new India’s zero tolerance towards terrorism and that the neighbouring country and its armed forces will be made to pay a very heavy price for Pahalgam-type attacks, Baijayant said the message needs to be taken around the world because Pakistan has also indulged in a huge level of propaganda. The narrative of Pakistan has to be countered and broken, he added.Speaking to TOI, Sasmit said the move to send all-party teams is not just a diplomatic outreach, it is also a declaration of intent. “It signals that India will not remain silent while terrorism continues to threaten our borders, our people, and our peace,” the BJD leader said.“As an MP, I see this initiative as a moment where we, as a nation, speak in one voice. Terrorism is not a partisan issue. It’s a direct attack on our sovereignty, our democracy, and our collective future. And in the face of that threat, unity is not optional, it is essential,” he said.Sasmit said what makes this initiative so powerful is that it rises above politics. “When MPs from across parties come together to represent India on the global stage, we show the world that our resolve is unshakable. We are not divided in the face of danger — we are determined,” he said.“I am proud to be part of this collective effort. This isn’t about words. It’s about action. It’s about standing up for every family that lost a loved one to senseless violence. It’s about sending a clear message to the world — India does not tolerate terrorism. And we expect the world to stand with us, not just in sympathy, but in solidarity,” he added.
