IMD issues yellow alert for Mumbai, Thane and Raigad due to heavy rainfall | Mumbai News – Times of India


MUMBAI: With several parts of the city experiencing light showers on Tuesday, IMD issued a yellow alert for Mumbai, Thane, and Raigad for Wednesday, indicating heavy rainfall at isolated places.
From Thursday to Saturday, there is a moderate rain alert. Independent meteorologists said rains are expected to pick pace next week.
“For June 19-20, passing showers may show up.But the proper widespread real active surge will be after June 24,” said Abhijit Modak, who runs Konkan weather blog.
As Mumbai has not recorded heavy and prolonged rain activity since the June 9 monsoon onset, day temperatures have been on the higher side.
On Wednesday, IMD Colaba and Santacruz observatories recorded maximum temperatures of 30.8°C and 34.8°C degrees, respectively
