Illegal electric fence kills 2 Odisha workers in TN | Bhubaneswar News

Dharmapuri: A 45-year-old man and his son, 20, from Odisha, died of electrocution Friday after they touched an illegal live electric fence around a farmland near Harur in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. One more person touched the fence but escaped with burn injuries.
The farmland was leased to M Viji. His father, Mani, had set up the fence around the farmland to protect his standing crops from wild boars, police said.

Mani has been arrested, while Viji is on the run.
The deceased, R Uththam Katta and his son Abiram Katta, were cooks by profession. Police said the accident occurred when Uththam and his co-worker Pavithra Chandan were returning home after a drink. Uththam died on the spot. Chandan rushed to inform Abiram. But when Abiram reached the spot, he too got electrocuted, police said. The bodies have been sent for postmortem.
A case is registered against Mani and Viji for erecting the electric fence illegally.
