MUMBAI: IIT Kharagpur has secured more than 1,800 job offers during its 2024-25 placement season, demonstrating its position as a premier institution for engineering talent despite challenging global recruitment conditions. The offers include 409 pre-placement offers (PPOs) and 25 international positions, with significant roles in deep-tech, AI, and fintech sectors.The institution achieved remarkable success early in the placement process, securing over 800 offers within the initial two days. The momentum continued as they surpassed 1,000 offers by Day 3, showing consistent demand across various sectors including software, analytics, core engineering, finance, and consulting.Compensation packages exceeding ₹1 crore were offered to nine students, with the highest package reaching ₹2.14 crore annually. These substantial offers came primarily from international technology and finance organisations, highlighting their trust in the institute’s educational excellence.> “The outcomes we’re witnessing reflect our focused engagement with recruiters and the adaptability of our students,” said Prof. Rajib Maity, Chairperson, Career Development Centre. “Our emphasis on collaborative skill-building and industry readiness continues to pay dividends.”The placement season has attracted more than 400 participating companies. Organisations from traditional sectors and emerging fields like sustainability and quantum computing have shown keen interest in recruiting from India’s oldest IIT.Director Prof. Amit Patra credited the success to the institution’s progressive academic structure. “We are at an inflection point where knowledge must be both deep and agile. Our curriculum is being re-engineered to keep pace with AI, deep-tech, and cross-disciplinary applications,” he said.The institute’s robust alumni network, industry partnerships, and emphasis on practical problem-solving have been crucial in developing employment-ready graduates. IIT Kharagpur’s placement results serve as an indicator of India’s technical talent landscape, successfully managing complex global recruitment challenges through expertise, capacity, and focused planning.
