IIT Bombay’s computer science stream dominates JEE advanced seat allocation – Times of India
MUMBAI: The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, (IIT-B), the Mecca for thousands of engineering aspirants, saw its computer science stream open at rank 1 and close at 68. Similarly, IIT Delhi saw this course open at all-India rank 27 and close at 116.
Last year, of the top 100 rankers, a whopping 89 of the top 100 rankers opted for the Powai college as their first choice, with everyone asking for computer science.Of them, 67 made the cut. Others had to make do with their second option — 23 of them will head to IIT-Delhi and nine to IIT-Madras.
The IIT Madras which is the organising institute for this year’s JEE Advanced and for the joint seat allocation process, the term used to invite choices of stream and colleges from students and allocating them a seat, refusedto share any information.
IIT Madras’ computer science stream opened at rank 76 and IIT Kanpur saw AIR 120 to be the first to be allotted a CS seat there.
On Thursday, the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) released the seat allocation for the first round of joint counselling for 59,917 seats in a total of 121 colleges including IIT-NIT in the country. Students who have been allotted seats in any college in the first round seat allocation will have to report online by June 24, 5 pm.
Seats at the IITs closed in the first round at 24,653 rank awarded to a girl student at IIT Jodhpur for physics, and for the NITs, ranks went over 7 lakh.
The JoSAA counselling process will be conducted in five rounds. The subsequent round allotment results will be published on June 27, July 4, July 10, and July 17, respectively.
