IISERs sign pact with US univ | Bhubaneswar News

Berhampur: All seven Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISER) in the country, including the one in Berhampur, signed a cooperation agreement on Friday with University of Buffalo, New York, for joint multi-institutional research and training. “The objective of the agreement is to establish a multiparty collaborative framework for long-term multi-institutional and international collaboration in educational and research fields,” said A K Ganguli, director, IISER Berhampur.
“The agreement will pave the way to plan future details to undertake joint research and training of students and researchers in basic sciences covering physics, chemistry, materials science, biosciences and related areas to meet 21st century challenges,” he said.
Directors and several senior professors of the IISERs in Pune, Kolkata, Mohali, Bhopal, Tirupati, Thiruvananthapuram and Berhampur, along with Venu Govindaraju, vice-president, research and economic development, University of Buffalo, and others attended the ceremony.
Govindaraju said, “We will jointly work out the projects to address the challenges faced nowadays like climate change, pure water, energy, health care, etc.”
The agreement was followed by a two-day conference on ‘Convergence of Multifunctional Materials, Photonics, Bioscience, and Artificial Intelligence’ held at IISER Berhampur.
