IGIMS inaugurates 6-bed ICU at State Cancer Institute | Patna News – Times of India

Patna: State health minister Mangal Pandey on Monday inaugurated a six-bed intensive care unit (ICU) at the State Cancer Institute (SCI) in Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS), Patna. He also inaugurated a five-bed duchenne muscular dystrophy daycare unit — the first such super-speciality unit in the state — along with a waiting lobby named after former deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi.
Pandey said that the SCI was facing a huge load of cancer patients, requiring emergency treatments. “Hence a separate six-bed ICU has been built in the SCI building,” said Pandey. An emergency ward with 10 beds for cancer patients is already functioning in the SCI.
After inaugurating the super-speciality ward for muscular dystrophy, Pandey said it was the first such unit in the state.
Meanwhile, the waiting area named after former deputy CM Modi has been built from his MLC fund only. The waiting area has facilities like locker, television and a screen, showcasing health-related information.
Apart from Pandey, MLA Sanjeev Chaurasia was also present at the inauguration along with director of the hospital, Dr Bindey Kumar, deputy director Dr Vibhuti Prasann Sinha, dean of faculty Dr Om Kumar, superintendent Dr Manish Mandal and several other doctors.
