I-T conducts searches on properties ‘linked’ to Naba Das | Bhubaneswar News
Jharsuguda: Income-tax department on Thursday launched simultaneous searches at 20 locations in Odisha and New Delhi apparently linked to slain BJD minister Naba Kisore Das over alleged tax evasion. Sources said the searches began around 5 am and are part of a larger probe into alleged tax evasion in coal and ash transport businesses associated with the former minister and his close aides. Searches were conducted at Naba’s residence and offices in Jharsuguda as well as business establishments in Sambalpur, Sundargarh and New Delhi. In Jharsuguda, a 10-member I-T team conducted searches at the residence of the late minister in Sarbahal. However, at the time of the operation, neither his son Vishal Das, nor daughter Dipali Das, were present.Similar search operations were carried out in Sambalpur at Naba’s ancestral residence in Modipara, a lounge in Bhalupali as well as hotel and other business establishments believed to be associated with the former minister’s business network. Searches were also reportedly conducted at the homes and offices of his known business associates.I-T teams also focused on multiple locations in Sundargarh and New Delhi, believed to be linked to the financial interests of the deceased BJD leader who was shot dead on Jan 29, 2023.
