NEW DELHI: “I prayed for you earlier, and I will continue to pray for your well-being,” said Bhajan Singh Rana, an auto driver, after meeting Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan at Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital on Tuesday.
Bhajan Singh was hailed as a hero when he rushed the actor to the hospital on January 16, following a brutal attack at Saif’s Bandra apartment.

The actor had been stabbed multiple times by an intruder, later identified as Shariful, a Bangladeshi illegal migrant, during an attempted robbery in the early hours of the morning.
Photos and videos of Bhajan Singh Rana posing with Saif Ali Khan at the hospital were widely circulated on social media.
As per the reports, before being discharged from the hospital, Saif called the auto driver to personally thank him for his quick action.
Earlier, Bhajan Singh, while interacting with media, recalled the incident in detail.
“It was around 2-3am when I saw a woman trying to hire an auto, but nobody stopped. I also heard calls for a rickshaw from inside the gate. I took a U-turn and stopped my vehicle near the gate. A man covered in blood came out, along with two-four other people. They put him in the auto and decided to go to Lilavati Hospital. I dropped them there, and later I came to know that he was Saif Ali Khan.”
Shariful Islam Shehzad Mohammad Rohilla Amin Fakir (30) was apprehended at Hiranandani Estate in Thane while attempting to flee to his native village in Bangladesh.
Shariful told the police he stabbed the actor in his back multiple times to free himself from his tight grip, as per the officials.
After the attack, the intruder escaped from Khan’s flat, and hid in the garden of the building for around two hours.
Fakir, a native of Jhalokathi district in Bangladesh, had been residing in Mumbai for over five months, working odd jobs and associated with a housekeeping agency.
The police on Tuesday recreated the crime scene with the help of the accused.
