Hyderabad’s Azad Engineering to make critical civil aircraft engine parts for Rolls Royce
Hyderabad: In a boost for Hyderabad’s growing clout as an aerospace and defence manufacturing hub, British giant Rolls Royce Plc has roped in Hyderabad-based complex components manufacturer Azad Engineering to make critical civil aircraft engine components. The deal comes a year after the United Kingdom-based engine maker inked a deal with the Hyderabad company for the manufacture and supply of defence aircraft engine parts.
The long-term deal was inked for the supply of super critical complex machined parts for the life of the engine programme, Azad Engineering said in a regulatory filing to the bourses. The company, however, did not divulge the size of the deal.
The deal has been signed for the entire life of a particular engine that is currently already being deployed in civilian aircraft. The critical components will be manufactured by Azad Engineering at its manufacturing facility at Jeedimetla on the outskirts of Hyderabad.
“This milestone agreement marks another new chapter of civil aircraft engine components in the collaboration between Azad Engineering and Rolls Royce, reinforcing both the organisations’ commitment to innovation, precision engineering and excellence in aerospace manufacturing,” Azad Engineering said.
The deal comes barely a week after Azad Engineering signed a long-term, Euro 90 million (approx. Rs 811 crore) contract and price agreement with German giant Siemens Energy Global GmbH for the manufacture and supply of mission-critical components, including combustion commodities, cold blades & vanes, machined parts and assemblies.
Azad Engineering makes highly engineered, complex mission and life-critical components for global original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) across sectors such as aerospace & defence, oil & gas and energy. The OEMs it supplies to also include Mitsubishi, GE, Skoda, Ansaldo, Baker Hughes, Boeing, Pratt & Whitney, Safran, Honeywell, Eaton, HAL, BHEL, DRDO, among others.
