HYDERABAD: 52-year-old Narsing Rao, alias Raju, working as a regional manager at Power Grid Corporation, died by suicide at his residence in Chilkalguda, Hyderabad, on Monday.
Police said Rao took the extreme step due to health and family issued. He slashed his throat with a blade and died by suicide, said police, adding that no suicide note was found at the spot.
Police said Rao was residing with his wife, children and mother at his Indira Nagar residence.
For the past couple of years, he was facing health issues and undergoing treatment, and also issues at home due to family disputes.
On Monday, while getting ready for work, he died by suicide, said police.
On a complaint from his wife Lalitha, a case was registered and investigation is under way, said B Anudeep, station house officer (SHO), Chilkalguda.
Student’s suicide from school building shakes Hyderabad last week
A 14-year-old student died by suicide after jumping from the fourth floor of his school building in Uppal on Saturday (February 22) morning. The tragic incident allegedly followed an altercation with a school teacher.
According to Uppal police, the student jumped from the fourth floor of Sagar Grammar School during school hours. Upon hearing a loud thud, school staff rushed to the scene and found the boy lying in a pool of blood. He was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.
The incident sparked protests, with the boy’s family and student organizations demanding action against the teacher. His mother accused the school’s physical training (PT) teacher of being responsible for his death.
Reports suggest that around 9.30 am, the student was seen tampering with a CCTV camera on campus. The PT teacher, noticing this, allegedly smacked and reprimanded him. Shortly after, the boy, under the pretext of going to the washroom, proceeded to the fourth floor and took the fatal leap, Uppal Inspector Election Reddy told TOI.
