Hyderabad bans firecrackers in public amid heightened security | Hyderabad News

HYDERABAD: Amid heightened security across the country, Hyderabad police commissioner CV Anand on Saturday issued an order banning the bursting of firecrackers in public places.“In exercise of the powers vested in me under section 67 c of Hyderabad City Police Act do hereby notify the general public that bursting of firecrackers or fireworks in public places is strictly prohibited in interest of public safety especially in and around military cantonment areas,” Anand stated.Following Operation Sindoor, several incidents were reported of people celebrating by bursting crackers at night.Police warned that in the current sensitive atmosphere, the sound of crackers could cause confusion or be mistaken for something more serious.“In the light of the current security environment, the sudden sound of crackers could be easily misinterpreted as an explosion, or even a terror related activity. This could potentially lead to panic, disrupt public order, and place unnecessary strain on security forces,” the police said.Officials added that anyone found violating the order will face legal action.
